Hannah Broadley (United States Department of Agriculture)
Development of biological control methods against invasive spotted lanternfly in the Eastern USA

Spotted lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula White) is a recent invader that was accidently introduced from China to the state of Pennsylvania in the US. It is an important pest of grapes, apples, and stone fruits, although its preferred host is tree of heaven (Ailanthus altissima). Interestingly, spotted lanternfly is also an invasive species in Korea and Japan. We're working on developing biological control and currently are studying an egg parasitoid, Anastatus orientalis, and a nymphal parasitoid, Dryinus sp.

講演2
Ian Knight (Louisiana State University)
Common reed die-back, and the invasive Roseau cane scale in the Mississippi River Delta, Louisiana, USA

I'll cover the history and importance of Phragmites in the Delta and the symptoms and implications of the die-offs. I'll also talk about the arrival of the scale, what we know about it, and data from our projects looking at its distribution in Louisiana and its effect on Phragmites. I will also cover some of the work we've done in Louisiana on the parasitoids that already occur here.
